It’s not uncommon for me to get a knot in my throat at weddings - the vows, the speeches, the love, the parents watching their babies all grown up….it all swirls around me in an achy mix of the very best things in life. At Fiona and Bernie’s wedding I not only got a knot but actual tears, from the vows they wrote for each other to the best man’s speech, from the way their circle rallied around them to the way they looked at each other. They stood in front of their most loved people, held hands and said, “When I look at you I feel it. I look at you and I’m home,” and I was gone. It is never lost on me, not ever, what an honour it is to be invited so closely into days such as these.

Johannah and Tom were married on a bright and sunny day at Brisbane Sailing Squadron, Bulimba. It was such a joyful wedding to be part of — two people who were truly made for each other. The details were perfection, from the florals to Johannah’s untraditional wedding dress and as always, it takes a huge group of dreamteam suppliers to make days like this as beautiful as they are. Hugh and Brigid’s wedding was a great big global affair. Though they live in London, and Hugh is from Ireland, they decided to tie the knot back in Brisbane, Australia where Brigid is originally from. It was such a laid-back, beautiful day, the swirl of accents drifting across rooms and erupting into bouts of laughter as the evening went on. At the end of the night, Hugh’s father passed me a glass of bubbles, ordered me to sit at their table and when I went to object, said to me, “This is an Irish wedding, love!”. I realised then that I was certainly in the right industry, just maybe in the wrong country doing it! Hugh and Brigid’s love for each other and the happiness that was felt on this perfect day was wonderful to be part of, and a special shout out to Bassline Studios for cranking up the dance floor at the end of the night!
